Grant County Public Library
Summer Reading Program - 2012

It’s time for the Summer Reading Program @ the Grant County Public Library! June 4-July 13

"Night" is the time of dreams; of ghosts and ghoulies, and maybe a few other scarey things! "Nighttime" is
bedtime – a time of lullabies and bedtime stories. Nighttime is a time for bats, owls,
and other nocturnal animals; and people, too, who work at night.
Night is also the time to gaze at the stars and tell stories around the campfire.
Let’s revel in the wonders of the night as we ‘Dream Big & Read! ‘ this summer!

* There are three levels of programming which are open to children from preschool (age 4) through
grade 8, with programs, prize drawings & storytimes.
The elementary level is open to children in Grades 1-5 (grade completed).
Registration begins May 14th. Join the fun and be a part of this exciting program!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How the program works:

* Register for the program beginning May 14th. Pick up your goodie bag and Reading Log after Memorial Day (May 28) but do not begin reading until Monday, June 4th.
* Use your Reading Timer to track your progress…Record time spent reading in 15 minute increments on your Log.
You will receive stickers to mark your progress
. (Use your Reading Timer from last year if you were in the program...if you are
new to the program, you will receive one when you turn in your first Reading Log
.)

* Earn Book Bucks by reading, by completing activity sheets and by attending programs. Spend your bucks at the
Library’s "Toy Store".
* A Program will be held for grades 1-5 Friday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. Please be on time…events will begin
promptly at 2:00. If you need to report hours, COME EARLY or save it for another day. You do not have to
attend these sessions to participate in the Summer Reading Program, but these are fun activity days where kids
get together and play games, watch movies, and create ethnic crafts.
* All who participate in the program will be invited to a final party on July 13th, with rewards and lunch for all.
