- a National Humanities Exhibit-

The exhibition consists of five separate, free standing sections that bring into focus the secession of the Southern states, slavery and wartime civil liberties. The exhibition encourages visitors to understand the Civil War as a test of the US. Constitution, to consider Lincoln’s options through his own eyes and to reflect on the significance of that great 19th-century confliction for Americans today.

The traveling exhibit examines how President Lincoln used the Constitution to confront three intertwined crises of the Civil War -

*  the secession of Southern states
*  slavery
